POSSIBLE WINTER STORM THURSDAY!!!!

A powerful storm system is located out in the pacific. This system will move south of Oklahoma mid week and will bring in a chance for a winter storm. As this is happening, cold continental polar air will be moving through the state behind a cold frony. This cold front will move through Oklahoma city Thursday. Temperatures on Thursday will be cold. I am going with 35 on Thursday with a 50% chance of rain and snow. As of right now, I will not talk about totals. The storm system is a good three days out and it could easily change, but you need to prepare for the possibility of a decent winter storm. There also will be strong northerly winds 20-30 miles per hour. This will blow the snow around and reduce visibility. THIS COULD BE SIMILAR TO CHRISTMAS EVE 2009 FOR PARTS OF THE STATE!!

Big Weather Changes Midweek

We will be lookingat rain moving in overnight. The mild weather will continue for Saturday; however, it will be mostly cloudy. It will be a few degrees cooler for Sunday. This hails in comparison to what I see happening this next work week. I see much colder air moving in. I also see a chance of a winter mix Thursday. Highs this work week will start with highs around 50. As we get into Thursday highs will be around 40. It will be windy with North winds to 30 mph. and there will be a 40% chance of a rain and snow mix. Friday will be cold with a high of 37. Once we hit Friday, it will remain at or below normal for a while. The Febuary weather outlook calls for equal chances of above and below normal temperatures and above normal precipitation.

Unusual January Regional Severe Weather

This is a much needed weather update. Sorry for the lack of any forecasts/updates. A powerfull low pressure centered in east central Oklahoma has lead to some storms. There has been hail reports and severe winds were reported on radar. We don't see this type of weather until spring, but a huge system that has pounded California has brought storms in. A tornado watch was issued earlier; thankfully we did not have any warnings in the state. This was not the case for eastern texas and Louisiana where multiple tornado warnings were reported. Some of these toradoes lead to impressive damage. There were reports of a jacked semi in Texas.

Update

Quick Update- (READ VERY CAREFULLY)

Nothing has changed. I am expecting the National Weather Service to issue some type of advisory for this Arctic outbreak. Due to the fact that it will be life threatening, I would expect them to make this official to keep everybody safe and aware of the situation. If you absolutely have to get out Thursday or Friday, I would cover up any exposed area to prevent FROSTBITE. This is not the time to be playing around. If you do not heed this advice, you will die!!

...BITTERLY COLD TEMPERATURES LATE WEDNESDAY THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY...

A STRONG ARCTIC COLD FRONT MOVING ACROSS OKLAHOMA AND WESTERN
NORTH TEXAS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING WILL USHER IN AN
EXTENDED PERIOD OF BITTERLY COLD TEMPERATURES AND SUB-ZERO WIND
CHILLS. THE EXTREME COLD WEATHER HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME LIFE-
THREATENING ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE CAUGHT OUTSIDE WITHOUT ADEQUATE
SHELTER. A BRIEF PERIOD OF LIGHT SNOW... AND PERHAPS FREEZING
DRIZZLE... WILL BE POSSIBLE BEHIND THE COLD FRONT WEDNESDAY
EVENING.

WIND CHILLS WILL FREQUENTLY RANGE BETWEEN 5 TO 20 BELOW ZERO.
ALTHOUGH WIDESPREAD ROAD PROBLEMS DUE TO ICE ARE NOT
ANTICIPATED... TRAVELERS COULD STILL FACE A LIFE-THREATENING
SITUATION IF THEY BECOME STRANDED AND ARE UNPREPARED FOR THE
EXTREME COLD. THOSE PLANNING TO TRAVEL WEDNESDAY THROUGH
SATURDAY... ESPECIALLY ACROSS RURAL AREAS... SHOULD PACK EXTRA
COATS... GLOVES... HATS AND BLANKETS IN THEIR VEHICLE. BEFORE
HEADING OUT... RECHARGE CELL PHONES AND NOTIFY FRIENDS OR
RELATIVES OF YOUR INTENDED TRAVEL PLANS.

THE ELDERLY AND SICK SHOULD BE LOOKED IN ON TO INSURE THEY HAVE
ADEQUATE HEAT. PETS WILL LIKELY NEED TO BE PROVIDED ADDITIONAL
SHELTER WHILE INSURING THEY STILL HAVE ACCESS TO WATER. EXPOSED
PIPES WILL FREEZE DURING THE EXTENDED PERIOD OF COLD WEATHER
UNLESS STEPS ARE TAKEN TO EITHER DRAIN OR PROTECT THEM FROM THE
SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES.

TEMPERATURES WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND EARLY THURSDAY ARE FORECAST TO
FALL INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS ACROSS NORTHERN OKLAHOMA AND IN THE
TEENS ELSEWHERE. THE VERY COLD WEATHER WILL CONTINUE OVER THE
REGION THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY. TEMPERATURES OVER PARTS OF NORTHERN
OKLAHOMA WILL SLIP BELOW ZERO FRIDAY AND SATURDAY MORNINGS
WITH LOWS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS TO LOWER TEENS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN
HALF OF OKLAHOMA INTO WESTERN NORTH TEXAS. ONCE THE COLD AIR
MOVES IN LATE WEDNESDAY... TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN
BELOW FREEZING UNTIL SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

COLD BLAST UPDATE

Not much has changed in my forecast. I am still thinking that the Arctic cold fron will move through the metro around 5pm. I also have kept my highs for Thursday and Friday the same in the upper teens. I HAVE CHANGED SATURDAY MORNINGS LOW FROM 2 TO 4. Nevertheless, I expect dangerous wind chills. I expect a wind chill advisory to be issued for much of northern and central Oklahoma. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA FOR EASTERN OKLAHOMA, WHERE 1-2 INCHES OF SNOW AND STRONG WINDS WILL LEAD TO POOR VISIBILITY. Wind chill values Thursday will range from -10 to 0. HYPOTHERMIA AND FROSTBITE REMAIN THE PREDOMINANT HAZARD TO ANYBODY GOING OUTSIDE THURSDAY. UPDATES TO FOLLOW.

Monday, January 4, 2010

Arctic outbreak update 1/04/10@ 11:35 pm

The weather models are still in agreement for this massive outbreak of arctic outbreak, that will affect everybody east of the rockies and all the way down to the gulf coast. I HAVE MADE CHANGES TO WEDNESDAY BRINGING IN WARMER WEATHER OF 40 DEGREES. The massive cold air will move in late Wednesday and will last into Sunday morning. That is 4 1/2 days below freezing. It is highly recommended to bundle up all body parts as you get out Thursday, for we will have wind chills between -10 and 0. HYPOTHERMIA AND FROSTBITE WILL BECOME A DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH LOW TEMPERATURES AND STRONG NORTH WINDS!!! WE ARE GOING TO BE DEALING WITH LIFE THREATENING COLD. I will have updates as needed.

POSSIBLE RECORD BREAKING COLD AIR ON TRACK FOR OKLAHOMA!!!!

The weather models are absolutely unbelievable. They continue to bring in colder and colder air. It won't stop and this is making me start to believe that we will have record breaking cold in the state. ONE model has a low of 0 Saturday morning. I have a model that is messed up and not updating. It has been down since Saturday and this is setting me back, but the models that I have to work with are still in agreement of the cold air. HYPOTHERMIA AND FROSTBITE WILL BECOME COMMON AND MAY LEAD TO DEATH AND/OR LOSS OF ANY BODY PART THAT IS NOT COVERED. WE WILL HAVE DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILLS. Tic THESE WIND CHILLS WILL LIKELY MEET CRITERIA FOR A WIND CHILL ADVISORY. The arctic cold front will move through the state Wednesday and temperatures will plummet behind the front. Behind the front we could see light snow and/or freezing drizzle. my thinking right now is that we will have freezing drizzle. This strong cold front will not have much moisture to work with. We may be able to squeeze out an inch of snow in northern Oklahoma. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES. I WILL HAVE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE UPDATES/ADVISORIES WHEN THEY BECOME AVAILABLE. I WILL ALSO HAVE FORECAST UPDATES 2 TIMES A DAY.

Sunday, January 3, 2010

STRONG ARCTIC FRONT TO MOVE THROUGH WEDNESDAY AND WILL PULL DOWN VERY BITTER TEMPERATURES!!!!!

Very cold and bitter weather is still on its way and will move through the metro around noon on Wednesday. Temperatures behind the front will plummet and wind chills will range from -5 to +10 Thursday morning, where we will have a low around 10 and we will not warm up much. Thursday we will have a high around 18. Friday morning will be our coldest; high pressure will make this very cold with a low around +7. Friday afternoon, we will warm up to around 22. The cold air will begin to move out and move northeast on Saturday, but we will still be below normal with highs on Saturday and Sunday in the mid 30's.

Saturday, January 2, 2010

BITTER COLD BLAST TO INTRENCH OKLAHOMA THURSDAY AND MAY LEAD TO DEATH FOR ANYONE STRANDED!

Extreme cold weather to move into Oklahoma Wednesday night. Lows Wednesday and Thursday night will be in the single digits and highs in the upper 10's, with wind chills below zero. Friday morning will be the coldest at 4 degrees. This is the coldest air we have seen since 2006 at least. This weather will bust pipes and possibly kill anyone left stranded overnight. Hypothermia and frostbite look likely Friday morning. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS WEATHER!!!! This weather is life threatening.

Friday, January 1, 2010

COLDEST AIR IN YEARS TO ARRIVE IN OKLAHOMA WEDNESDAY!!!

Some of the coldest air we have seen since 2006 will take over the state Wednseday. We will have some actic air move into thye state tonight. Saturday will be much colder. We may not get out of the 20's and we will barel war up on Monday and Tuesday before a cold blast mves into the state Tuesday night. This is going to be dangerous cold. We may not get above 19 on Thursday for highs. We also may have lows in the single digits Thursday and Friday.
